So to the distinguished gentlemen of the Urban Prep Academy for Young Men, continue to make us proud. When you get to the college or university that you’ve chosen, continue to carry that values that have been instilled in you over the years. Show them why and how you earned that scholarship.
I’m in the process of learning how to be a support system while at the same time protecting myself from getting hurt. It’s kind of crazy trying to balance being there when they need you and falling back when they don’t. You get so used to being there that when they no longer call or text you start to take it personally or even worse, feel used.
I’ve decided to pay attention and starting Monday (January 25, 2010) I’m going to spotlight a new African American woman every week on my desktop, and instead of getting annoyed when they don’t know who she is, I’m going to simply take them to school!
This heartless, poor excuse for a human had the audacity to say the people of Haiti are sitting around waiting on “Handouts” and they should “Help Themselves”. I’m floored right now….seriously, what human, forget race, could look at those pictures, see all those bodies in the road, see the devastation and still say they should “Help Themselves”?
I’ve never been the type to brag or boast about relationships, friends, who I know, etcetera. It’s not that I’m ashamed of them; it’s just that I feel the less people know about certain situations the better. I’m not saying don’t talk to your friends, I’m simply saying some things should remain private.
